Spray applied thermal insulation is widely accepted as the most versatile method of insulation on the open market. It’s continuous coating, which sticks to any substrate including the most difficult areas such as curvature and gaps, provides the most effective thermal performance used in modern technology. Applied correctly it will weatherproof and encapsulate structures extending the lifespan of most elderly buildings.

Open Cell Versus Closed Cell

Spray foam technology comes in two principle forms, open and closed cell. Both Sprayfoam technologies possess several benefits:

Closed Cell insulation

Closed cell insulation has the most superior thermal values to any of its competitors. It’s highly dense and rigid and will eliminate condensation issues as well as provide excellent u-vales. It does possess water impermeable properties.

Due to its nature it strengthens and aids structural integrity and resists moisture and mould. It’s highly effective for asbestos encapsulation and is suitable for all commercial, agricultural and commercial applications.

Open Cell Insulation

Open cell insulation is light and airy in its composition. It’s a breathable but airtight product and has up to 45% heat saving potential in domestic properties in particular. Its global warming potential is 1 out of a possible 100. It’s 100% water blown and has vapour impermeable properties. Mostly used in residential for lofts and cavities and in most cases it’s used in enclosed cavities or spaces.

The Benefits of Sprayfoam Technology

Besides it’s thermal performance, the air barrier which it creates alleviates the mixing of cold and warm air within a confined space. As a consequence, condensation is eradicated especially on metal, steel or tin, extending the life of a building.

In recent times the recommended depth of conventional insulation has increased to 300mm. This means they insulate two layers, between and across the joists. This means the loft becomes a redundant storage space as it’s a sea of insulation.

Sprayfoam goes between the rafters enabling the loft to be a clean usable space,  warm in winter and cool in summer. Additionally, the open cell Sprayfoam insulation it’s a CFC free product containing no harmful organic compounds. These factors make it the perfect choice for the environmentally conscious user.

Sprayfoam Installation Process

In terms of the installation of Sprayfoam technology it’s vital to have a well practiced process. With over 25 years of practical hands on experience in our organisation, the teams at Sprayfoam Contractor have perfected our applications, meaning you can have total confidence we're covering every aspect.
